Ironically, Sega has been one of the gaming companies that decided that it was time to mix NFT and Gaming via the concept of Web3 gaming and pretty much we have heard some high-profile association, but maybe all came to a surprising end.

Without prior warnings, Sega has pulled the plug on all current Web3 or NFT based games despite being a validator for Oasys network and some games announcements including a Web3 Virtua Fighter.

This is what Sega co-chief operating officer Shuji Utsumi said to Bloomberg this week:

“The action in play-to-earn games is boring. What’s the point if games are no fun?

We’re looking into whether this technology is really going to take off in this industry, after all.”

To me it seems that early internal testing proves Sega maybe is not the time, but this is an assumption on why the 180 turn on cryptocurrency, NFT and Web3.

Sega will commit to deals that are too late to be dismissed all right, but don’t expect more Web3 announcements in a while.
