Been such a strange few days. My hometown experienced a flood, that left such destruction in it's wake the likes I've never seen in my entire life. I watched as people were literally having to be rescued from rooftops by a helicopter. I saw terror and hopelessness, but I also witnessed amazing acts of bravery and courage. As some of the people rescued were dropped off, they went straight back into the deadly currents to try and save anyone they could. When the murky water began to recede it was love that took it's place in the streets. People all across the county who were able to help sprung into action. There were boats searching high and low, everyday people cooking food to feed the hungry, shelter being brought to the ones who lost everything. Through the entirety of this disaster, it has shown me that people really want to do good things and love others. There is loss but there is also life. We are all in this together, and because of that there is hope.

I've posted some images of the aftermath. The first few are of my granny's house. The final one shows how high the water got in my aunt's business, you can see the water line above the door.
