I'd like to address this cause I've seen it in a few places. 1st I'd like to say that I think the artist who did the fan art did an awesome job and has some serious talent and this post is no way bashing them or their art. I am also not bashing Op as I don't blame them alone but society as a whole for this. Addressing OPs statement: even if we ignored Aloy's storyline in horizon and the fact that she's literally fighting for her life in a post apocalyptic world full of killer machines and therefore unlikely to focus her thoughts and attention on makeup and perfect looks, and looked at just her character Design she's still perfectly feminine in her own ways. The idea that a woman, video game character or not has to look a certain way to be perceived as feminine needs to be left in the past. It's harmful to the girls who don't fit this preconceived idea of femininity who are going to think they need to change themselves when they don't. Ladies. If you don't fit today's "standards" for being feminine that's okay! You're still beautiful and you're still feminine! And if you do? That's okay too! You're still beautiful and you're still feminine. Also the same goes for men. The standards society puts in place for what is considered masculine do not make you any more or less masculine! It's also really hard on Trans women and men who are already fighting with body dysmorphia to see these notions of what "women or men should look like" its 2021...let's leave the toxicity in the past and stop holding ridiculous standards.
P.S. if you know what artist did this fan art please let me know
