After more than a year that they could not come to a new agreement and let games being removed from Chinese market (except Diablo Immortal), Blizzard Entertainment will return to China via Xbox consoles. Back in November 2022, when Activision Blizzard were still independent, could not reach a new business agreement beyond the availability of Diablo Immortal (a whole different agreement) and let January 2023 as the official month of most of Blizzard Entertainment games to be retired. This week's announcement is basically a Microsoft Gaming led gaming success in China gaming market, that includes to explore bringing new NetEase games to Xbox consoles and other platforms. NetEase hasn't been in the bench despite losing a powerful partner like Blizzard (which rumors saying that in part, is was due disturbed communication with unpleasant misunderstandings for then CEO Bobby Kotick), as buying and investing in Westerns gaming studios. For immediate effect, Chinese gamers will expect the recovery of access of previous available titles like World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and other titles in the Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo and StarCraft franchises. This week the FTC went on on appeal of the dismissal of the preliminary injunction against #Microsoft & Activision Blizzard despite the deal already closed. The agency questions the need to proof why the merger is monopoly when both parties are "monopolies". But the main thing here is that FTC failed to prove in his turn last summer that Activision Blizzard King being owned by Microsoft would trouble competition by making sooner or later, games exclusive for Xbox. Which Microsoft since Year 1 since announcing the deal, have been entering in 10 year-deals with Xbox competitors included Playstation (whom originally rejected signing in expecting a victory from the FTC) and the same FTC failing to prove its point at the hearing. Observers believes that FTC is in a uphill battle and this is one of many other cases in which FTC under the Biden Administration has shown intolerance to big mergers but, delivering poor cases, losing them and being called out on Congress due requesting more funding despite all. #Gaming #GamingNews

Reminding you all that I AM NOT A LEGAL/MERGER expert! I partially agree that CMA made Microsoft step a landmine after FTC's fiasco on #ActivisionBlizzard prem-injuction. But then again, CMA STILL is on the fence regardless of this "petty victory" on delaying the inevitable.

Is time to say "Microsoft is halfway of victory" due the performance of FTC's legal team? HELL YEAH! this is an expression but, objectively FTC haven't prepared their witnesses properly INCLUDING Playstation CEO Jim Ryan as he had some contradiction with past/present statements.
