Reportedly, one of the few things that let FIFA and Electronic Arts go at odds with each other is how they respectively see how the relationship could continue moving forward. One of the disagreements is EA having the game being offered with NFT elements much to the disapproval of FIFA.

Today the story and maybe the take on FIFA regarding NFT and blockchain have drastically changed.

Making the first big gaming announcement ever since confirming that EA SPORT FIFA 23 would be the last time Electronic Arts launched an official game of its league, FIFA announced that there will be 4 original games in blockchain-backed Web3 sites.

The first game is AI League: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Edition, developed by Altered State Machine, which is a “4-on-4 casual football game, played between AI-controlled characters, with player input at fun and tactical moments”.

The game in particular, will be designed with a 10-week prediction component, with “digital and physical prizes” available to those who correctly predict real-life matches.

The second game is FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in the Upland Metaverse, which is a collaboration with Uplandme. Upland is a blockchain-based metaverse where players buy and sell virtual properties.

Third is Matchday Challenge: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Edition and this one will be a social networking centered game and finally for the mobile fans, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Phygtl is a collaboration with “fan engagement mobile application” Phygtl.

All games will make it on time for the festivities of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and depending on how well it goes, some may be released yearly.
