It has been a while since we heard about the game catalog updated on Nintendo Switch Online and mainly the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion that includes the iconic Sega Genesis.

Nintendo has announced the new line up of Sega Genesis games joining this April for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion users and the games are Flicky, Kid Chameleon, Pulseman and Street Fighter II’: Special Champion Edition.

Flicky was a 1984 Sega arcade game which was eventually ported to the Mega Drive. Playing as a small blue bird called Flicky, players have to guide a group of yellow birds called Chirps to an exit while avoiding enemies.

Kid Chameleon is a platformer about a boy who enters a hologram arcade game called Wild Side to defeat its boss and rescue his friends who are trapped in its world.

Pulseman is kinda of a special entry because the developer is actually Game Freak and was the game they worked full time before working on the early concepts that we now know nowadays as Pokémon.

The game takes place in a fictional 21st Century era where  computer engineer Doc Yoshiyama had succeeded in creating the world's most advanced Artificial Intelligence. He called his creation C-Life and managed to make her aware, thinking and feeling. However, he soon found himself in love with this C-Life girl and wanted to be closer to her, so he digitized and uploaded himself into his computer core, where the two "made love" by combining his DNA and her program core.

The game was never released outside of Japan during the heyday of Sega Genesis in early 90’s, but was available on the catalog of the now extinct Sega Channel gaming service.

AAnd finally, one of the many updates that the console version of Street Fighter II received with Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition.

Street Fighter II’: Special Champion Edition launched in 1993 as the first Street Fighter II port exclusively for Sega Genesis and featured updated graphics and the availability of Vega, Balrog, Sagat and M. Bison as playable fighters instead of CPU “grand masters”.

The game was designed to be a compilation of Street Fighter II': Champion Edition and Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting.

All the games will begin appearing on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion starting April 18, 2023.
