As part of the gaming approach renewed for macOS by Apple after YEARS delegating this in the mobile gaming community with iOS, a major player in the form of Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions made a welcomed cameo at WWDC 2023.
A surprising visit of Hideo Kojima at Apple Park in Cupertino California during the WWDC 23 keynote where it was announced that a macOS full Apple Silicon supported port of Death Stranding is in development.
The port will be the Death Stranding Director Cut version and as expected, it will be published via 505 Games as it was for Windows PC (console version still a Playstation exclusive).
Death Stranding is set in the United States following a cataclysmic event which caused destructive creatures to begin roaming the Earth. Players control Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), a courier tasked with delivering supplies to isolated colonies and reconnecting them via a wireless communications network. Alongside Reedus, the game features actors Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Lindsay Wagner, in addition to the likenesses of film directors Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn as supporting characters.
Of course, Hideo Kojima being present at Apple Park (obviously this keynote was pre-recorded), was not just only about a macOS version of Death Stranding, but to confirm that future Kojima Productions project will also have macOS in mind.
“This is just the beginning, and we are actively working to bring our future titles to Apple platforms.”
We know that Kojima Productions is already at full throttle with DEath Stranding 2, confirmed late 2022 and early 2022, Microsoft and Hidoe Kojima himself mentioned that there is a Xbox exclusive games that will be available as a Game Pass Cloud exclusive in which Kojima stated that some of his idea can be implemented via Cloud Gaming environment, but since then, he hasn’t go deep in details.
