Despite the mixed reaction of Diablo Immortal as it was promised and as it was launched, the eye of Blizzard fans turned on Warcraft as beside Warcraft Arclight Rumble, we were awaiting news of a mobile variant of classic Warcraft game.
Appealing again on reporting on rumors from the CORRECT SOURCE, a Bloomberg report stated that internally a Warcraft mobile game was canceled by both Blizzard and mobile gaming studio NetEase.
No is not Warcraft Arclight Rumble, but a Warcraft mobile game that reportedly, was a massively multiplayer online role-playing title set in the same universe as World of Warcraft, internally known with the codename Neptune.
The reason behind the cancellation was an apparent strong disagreement between Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase about financial terms in the game that went unsolvable.
The harsh thing about this is that the project was in its 3rrd year and already a development group that counted more than 100 people and remains to see if they will remain employed or at least most of them getting retained.
As of the writing of this, neither Blizzard Entertainment, parent company Activision Blizzard nor NetEase have responded to confirm or deny the report.
