We are a month away from Overwatch 2 and of course Blizzard Entertainment is ready for the marketing period that the launch will bring and finally, we got the presentation of another original hero for the Overwatch sequel.

Meet Kiriko.

Kiriko is a support-type who blurs the line between damage dealer and healer and Blizzard claims that she will serve as an example of the mechanics for the newest 5v5 system.

She is confirmed as the first hero to be unlockable via the Battle Pass.

And talking about the Battle Pass… Here is Season 1

Blizzard provided a closer look at how Overwatch 2’s battle pass system will work, what it will offer players, and why the company believes it delivers “a tremendous amount of value” for those who pay into the system.

And as expected, the Battle Pass will vary between Seasons and “Cyberpunk” is Season 1 for Overwatch and brings a series of unlockable cosmetics matching that theme that players can earn through the battle pass.

About the so called tiers, there will be a paid tier and a free tier (aka as the grinding route), and obviously, booths offer DLC for players but the main and “valuable ones” will be in the paid tier.

Talking about paying, there will be Overwatch coins, an in-game currency that can be gained via gameplay and a 1,000 Overwatch Coins can grant you a paid tier or the equivalent of $10.

Season 1 Cyberpunk will include:

  • Kiriko, for players who have not already unlocked her
  • 2 Epic skins
  • 1 weapon charm
  • 2 souvenirs
  • 1 highlight intro
  • 14 additional items (emotes, victory poses, name cards, sprays, player icons, etc.)
  • Prestige Tier titles (8 earnable titles available only after completing the entire pass)
  • immediate access to Kiriko*
  • 20% XP Battle Pass Boost
  • 1 Mythic skin
  • 5 Legendary skins and 1 Epic skin
  • 3 “Play of the Game” intros
  • 4 weapon charms
  • 3 emotes
  • 3 souvenirs
  • 6 poses
  • 6 name cards
  • 30-plus additional cosmetic rewards

*Kiriko can be unlocked on the free tier

Taking a script from Halo Infinite, Overwatch 2’s way to progress in the free tiers will be boosted with daily and weekly challenges with six daily challenges to choose from, each is worth 3,000 XP, with a maximum of 9,000 XP available to earn or in other words, 6 challenges and 3 to complete just for XP.

Daily challenges include basic feats like winning a game, completing three games in any unranked mode, mitigating 2,000 damage without dying, or finishing three games after queuing up for role flex matchmaking.

The good thing is that  Blizzard will also give players an XP boost for grouping up and playing with friends and occasional weekends of double XP gain.

Overwatch 2 will go live on October 4 for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC and Nintendo Switch, provoking original Overwatch to go offline.
