Not only the pandemic but the evolution of internet and content creation being as accessible as ever has been a constant challenge for The Entertainment Software Association to justify the mere existence of the Electronic Entertainment Expo or simply known as E3.

From its 90’s heyday, the event transitioned from electronics and video gaming to focusing on gaming in general and being the spotlight for important news and announcements, but that is no longer the case in days where platforms like YouTube offers much with SO MUCH LESS EFFORT AND COMMITMENT.

Yet, in 2020 the US entered its own theater of the COVID-19 pandemic saga and E3 needed to switch to hybrid in 2020 to non-existent at least in 2023.

Now, the Entertainment Software Association apparently is trying things again for 2023 but practically they will be out of the equation themselves as ReedPop, a company known to be a source for conducting and managing events as the kind of E3, will be running things.

ReedPop announced that E3 and their formatting presentation will be a physical and virtual hybrids event but will be a two-part event, one for business/partners and the other for the consumer.

With this, the schedule for E3 in 2023 will be as follow:

  • The first two days of E3 2023 (June 13 – 14) will be reserved exclusively for business.
  • The third day (June 15) will welcome both business and consumer visitors.
  • The final day (June 16) will be dedicated to consumers.

Practically is a hybrid of returning to its but trying to be more connected with audience and reality for better have the event focused on more areas.

Particularly for the consumer side, ReedPop wants this part to be a better highlight for indies and indie publishers to showcase titles in the Concourse Hall, and it’s also planning elements outside of the Los Angeles Convention Center where E3 will physically take place.

There will also be presentations that will be taking place in a virtual manner so we are now in the expectations of companies that will make a participation and if history serves to be right, I will dare to say that Microsoft and Xbox are one of them.
