While it is mainly known to be the developers of Pokémon, Game Freak has developed some games outside of one of Nintendo’s most successful franchises and it has been almost 4 years since its last one.
Described as Project Bloom, Game Freak announced that it has partnered with Private Division to develop a new action-adventure game and will be the Pokémon studio’s newest intellectual property.
Despite being a member under the Nintendo subsidiary Nintendo Creatures, Game Freak is allowed to create games for other platforms as long as it is not a direct competition to Nintendo branded games.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to create a new IP that is bold and tonally different from our prior work.
From the beginning, Private Division was the publisher we wanted to work with on our new game. Their track record and global expertise give us all the confidence to create a sweeping new action-adventure game that we can’t wait to share more about in the future.”
-Kota Furushima, director at Game Freak
While there is no mention on what to expect on the game or itś lore, Project Bloom is planned for release sometime during Take-Two Interactive’s 2026 fiscal year (Private Division parent company), which runs from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
