This is the very first week that The Super Mario Bros. Movie is available for paid on-demand services which let you forgo (finally) theaters.

But Nintendo and Illumination are still celebrating as The Super Mario Bros. Movie has generated $1.248 billion.

This newest accolade joining a new record that the movie has achieved since weekend 1, makes the movie becoming the third biggest animated film in history, behind only Disney's Frozen 2 ($1.284 billion) and Frozen ($1.452 billion).

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was produced by Illumination with an association with Nintendo which included direct input and creativeness rules from the very one Shigeru Miyamoto which in my opinion, helped the success of the movie and avoided Hollywood’s taste of being overtaking.

The ensemble voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, and Fred Armisen.
