Is true that GGs holds both presence on Discord and Guilded and while each offers features on their own (mainly Guilded tries to have Discord’s features as free as possible instead of attaching Nitro), we cannot ignore every time Discord gets a big update.

And indeed, it is a good one for creators that already offer subscriptions to their users and fans.

Discord confirmed that they will launch a shop where content creators can sell “Downloadables” to users via Server Shops.

As you would expect in this kind of announcement, both the Downlables and Server Shops will have creators with a cut of each transaction.

Meanwhile, subscriptions can be put on tiers in the future as a way to make it easier to decide what subscriptions to offer to your community.

Discord also introduced a new type of channel in beta: Media Channels. These are designed to be focused on things like videos, photos, and files, and could be a useful option for communities that want to better split up meme dumps from text chat. 

While the monetization opportunities are coming in the coming months, Media Channels are already available.
