It is those sad moments when somebody becomes famous, builds a legacy and after passing away, means trouble, negativity and the bad side of business. Unfortunately Diego Maradona is an example.

The legendary Diego Maradona died late 2020 and one immediate thing that would happen is that a proper legacy continuity with his brand or thing related would carry on, particularly at soccer video games like EA Sports FIFA (but unlike Konami’s PES which were publicly denounced by Maradona himself of using his image without his direct permission).

But many FIFA 21 players were surprised by this notification…

Eurogamer reported what is going on and is not Electronic Arts’s direct fault but an internal struggle between people close to Maradona and his family regarding rights to his image and brand.

Specifically, EA Sport signed a contract with his last public relationship agent Stefano Ceci but as a legal dispute with his family and former PR company Sattvica arose not long after Maradona’s death, he was actually unable to sign legally despite doing so.

The TLDR is that Sattvica claims that Maradona signed with them in life and disputes how his daughters allowed Ceci to claim rights to his images and you can imagine the scope of this sad event.
