One of the projects that Ubisoft is working and delaying constantly is the Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time remake and today’s news brings 50-50 of happiness and sadness taking in context a few things happening around the French studio.

Via Twitter, Ubisoft announced that they handed the development of the remake of Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time to Ubisoft Montreal.

The former studio was Ubisoft Mumbai and Pine Studio, but it seems that the duo could not get the job done as they are constantly seeing opportunities to improve the development, or at least that was the reasoning for the delays for the game’s launch.

The timing of the announcement can be in one part encouraging, but in the other part can be a flag as theses days were every major studios and even independents are getting bought here and there, Ubisoft’s potential sale have been resonating strongly as Yves Guillemot’s influence is not as strong as when Vivendi try to make a hostile takeover to Ubisoft a few years ago and now that no family member is available to back him up on having Ubisoft maintain being independent is questionable at best.

There is speculation that this is part of a cancellation of the project itself and makes it more valuable to the company for sale, but this is mere speculation. I am reading in social networks as I personally, I would like that Ubisoft remains solid but needs to really keep it together.
