Back in 2006, when 1983's Scarface went over again with classical and new movie fans at the time and publisher Vivendi Games capitalized on the renewed fever of the rise and fall of Tony Montana with an original Scarface game.
Yes and for those who don't know, the 2006' Scarface: The World Is Yours' was NOT a retelling of the movie, but a "What If?" alternative version where Montana survived the assault on his mansion and was on laser-focus revenge with various mechanics for open world and an obvious GTA's inspired gameplay.
For some reason, in 2005 Vivendi knew the game would be a success and by the media tour campaign, it was claimed that there were vision for at least 4 sequels for the game but unfortunately life did have some other purpose and the original game was the only thing we got.
The second game, Scarface: Empire, was actually in development before getting repurposed for other games like Prototype and the Hulk games as you can see in the following footage by Mafia Game Videos's Twitter account, a Mafia games fansite.
While there was no exact gameplay, you can see many of the elements that were in progress by the time of development, including screenshots for menu, loading (showing that the game engine was based for Xbox development) and footage on how dynamics lig Game HUD and a mobile telephone would have looked.
The game was developed once again by Radical Entertainment but it was canceled and their assets repurposed to other games because when Vivendi Games was restructuring itself with Blizzard and finally, the acquisition of both by Activision to give birth to Activision Blizzard, made the game development being lost in the loop as Activision newer grew interested on more Scarface games.
