Yes, the nostalgia was pun intended in the title of this article as I practically cannot believe how time flies and while I never played Lollipop Chainsaw, I do remember the hype when this game was originally released in 2012.

Today, 10 years later, Dragami Games announced that they are developing a remake for the game with a 2023 release target year.

Lollipop Chainsaw is an hack-n-slash videogame developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture and features Juliet Starling, a cheerleader zombie hunter fighting zombies in a fictional California high school.

The game was generally well received and those negative takes on the game were given due technicalities depending on the platform the game was being reviewed on, but the game itself amazed some fans.

This includes director James Gunn, who said that he used the game as influence on his take of Margot Robbies's Harley Quinn for the 2021's The Suicide Squad movie, but I found out recently that he co-wrote the game's lore actually.

Original producer Yoshimi Yasuda is back at the game with a team compose of new people and former staff of the original games and while no details were given on platforms or exact release date, the game aims to be overhauled graphically and we should expect changes on the music score as some of the soundtrack cannot be used again due copyright issues.

UPDATE

Added the fact that James Gunn co-wrote the game's story.
