Yesterday was a big day for The Sims fans and we probably are going to be seeing more The Sims news, Electronic Arts gave the surprise and you will no longer need to tell your friend to buy The Sims 4.

Maxis and Electronic Arts announced that The Sims 4 will be free to play beginning on October 18.

Of course, this only applies to the base game and not the post-launch content and expansions and while Maxis knows that there are recent buyers, the studio confirmed that recent buyers and those who chose to buy the game until OCtober 17, that very same day, they will receive the Desert Luxe Kit, which launches Wednesday and adds new furniture items to the in-game catalog based off the natural landscape of the southwestern desert.

While the announcement did not include a reason for this movement, it is either way a welcoming news.
