Well, I know we are already a week later and have written and spoken about it. But I think it is fair that I should highlight some of the gaming studios that are responding to the surprising wind-down and closing of Stadia in January 2023.

For everyone that has invested on Stadia will be receiving a refund for direct Stadia Store and online Google Store purchases related to Stadia, that’s already a common knowledge.

What probably is not is the game publisher and developers that are interested in not limiting to Google refund everyone and there are some specials announcements including.

Ubisoft - All Stadia game collection

The one that started all was the makers of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry Immortal Fenix Rising  and other franchises, acknowledging that they were surprised by the news and WILL be giving all buyers of Stadia version of its games via Ubisoft Connect and have all games accessible via the Ubisoft Store some time later.

Also, Ubisoft+ subscriber will be receiving news soon.

Muse Games - Embr

One of the first studios responding was Embr developers and while the game is already available on PC via Steam, Embr was a timed exclusive on Stadia and Day One launch as a Stadia Pro game.

Muse announced that Stadia users that had either claimed the game as Pro or bought later via the Stadia Store, need to email them (check their official Discord) a pic with your Stadia account and a visible Embr landing page that said either “Claimed” or “Purchased” to receive a reply with a Steam Code giving you the game.

IO Interactive - HITMAN latest trilogy

HITMAN makers, having launched all three games (HITMAN 3 as Day one launch with the other available platforms) announced that they are sorting things out on how to help players that bought the game.

It is not known as of the writing of this if this includes HITMAN 1 that was available as Stadia Pro at when the port was first available.

Tequila Works - Gylt

One of the big main worries was games that were having Stadia as launching AND exclusive platform and it is good to know that Tequila Games managed to start port development for Gylt but nothing else was revealed and if Stadia Pro/Buyer or both will have news soon.

Wired Productions - Martha Is Dead

Wired Productions was the first and mounting evidence that Google’s announcement on Stadia became outta nowhere, while not acknowledging what it can do for the future, it did announced that Martha Is Dead will get release on Stadia on Winter despite Stadia Store is practically in read-only mode, so we shall see if any development comes by.

Microsoft/Bethesda -  The Elder Scrolls Online

And the surprising announcement from Xbox Game Studios’s Bethesda (and that motivated the creation of this list) was that players that already have their content as the game was crossplay and cross progression ready since day one, but remains to see if the base game and their expansion could be claimable in the Microsoft Store.

A message to our ESO Stadia players: "Since the news of Stadia shutting down, Bethesda Softworks and ZeniMax Online Studios have been discussing next steps for our Elder Scrolls Online Stadia players and we appreciate your patience. We are happy to share that our Stadia players will be able to transfer their ESO accounts to PC, bringing with them all of their progress, including but not limited to existing characters, purchased items, achievements, and inventory. Since Stadia players already play ESO on our PC servers, all of their friends and guilds will be waiting for them once they complete the transfer. We will have more information on how to do this soon, so please stay tuned."

BedTime Digital Games - Figment

While not saying specifically to give out PC version of the game like it was the case of Embr, BedTime Digital Games announced that they are looking on how to compensate Stadia users with their game Figment going away with Stadia on January, while lamenting that Figment 2 for Stadia will never come.

For now, eyes are on Splash Damage - Outcasters

Big players like Capcom and Bandai Namco haven’t said anything yet (and somehow I don't  expect them to), but Outcasters by Splash Damage got one's attention as this is a little more particular case as this game was purposely a Stadia exclusive game and the only game that the defunct Stadia Games & Entertainment studio managed to publish (not develop).

Splash Damage hasn’t said anything due the fact that Google bought the rights to the game and as of the writing of this, they haven’t announced if they will be releasing their ownership right or having Splash Damage buying the rights back (which would look bad despite being legal to do).

Unfortunately, Outcaster became the first true collateral damage on the downfall of Stadia, read here.
