A surprising and sad update from Redhill Games and it is that their 5v5 shooter Nine To Five will not only receive new content, but the game will be retired in its entirety and server shut down on January 18.

Without entering in much detail, REdhill Games announced that they are stopping the development of Nine To Five, acknowledging that they haven't updated the game much after the last one that included welcomed changes and pretty much, not much news directly shared.

The timing of the announcement is weird and added that the end of life and shut down date is January 18th, the same day that Google will shutdown Stadia.

Reminding you all (and if you didn’t know, well, the more you know), Nine To Five was launched in parallel to Stadia and PC via Steam and while crossplay was not available initially, it gets me wonder how Redhill Games could not just simply educate Stadia gamers that PC was ok to migrate as you needed to login with Steam anyways to activate the in-game crossplay.

Which also has me wondering if the game operation itself was somehow backed by Google and the Stadia’s announcement being a distasteful surprise for developers, might have Redhill Games already on the fence.

Probably we will not know for sure.
