It is no secret that Hideo Kojima historically added pop culture including television series and movies to games and since going independent from Konami, Death Stranding has been filled with Hollywood personalities as characters with its debut game Death Stranding.
Also, it is no secret that Kojima had his studio, Kojima Productions, opening a television and movies division this year and it seems that they are ready for their first production.
And it is a Death Stranding movie.
Hideo Kojima officially announced a Kojima Productions and Hammerstone Studios joint venture that will bring Death Stranding to theaters and this includes Alex Lebovici, head of Hammerstone Studios and producer on the horror film Barbarian.
While Kojima acknowledged that will keep details tight for now, he mentioned that the movie will “introduce new elements and characters within the Death Stranding universe” or in other words, the movie is not just an audiovisual repetition of the Death Stranding game.
The movie will apparently be developed on a “fast track” route but even with that, no target date was shared.
