Today was a good day for Sony to announce the next Playstation 5 firmware beta and those who had resisted the urge to substitute their 1440p monitor and expect more things like it was with Playstation 4, the BETA includes some goodies.

The main thing for the proposed next big PS5 Firmware updates finally gives the Playstation5  consoles TRUE support for 1440p screens and not downscaling just because.

Technically speaking this is beneficial on the physical performance of the PS5 console as it does not have to operate and process games like it is on a 4K screen being on an inferior screen and this should mean less heat and energy consumption.

You should expect games with a higher native resolution like 4K, then you may benefit from improved anti-aliasing through supersampling down to 1440p output.

The only two bad things is that the support needs to be added to games by their respective developers as via console, will only enforce a downscaling at platform level.

Another bad thing is that Variable Refresh Rate or VRR will not support 1440p and no indication when we can expect VRR at 1440p.

Other good technical stuff is that users will be able to listen to and compare the difference between 3D and stereo audio on the same screen, and then choose your preferred setting.

Elsewhere, there is a new organization option called Gamelists. Users will be able to sort their games into these Gamelists, essentially the folders used on the PS4, with up to 15 lists in total and 100 games in each one.

Users in  U.S., Canada, Japan, U.KGermany and France & took place in the previous BETA are expected to be invited to register for this one too.
