Back like 30 years ago, a Sony executive probably would laugh at you and tell him that in the future, Sony uses a big main stage for other things than Television, Walkman and general electronics, but this is 2023 and in CES 2023, it is another reality for Sony.

From a company that capitalized after World War II, becoming a leader in every corner of the electronics world and nowaday, gaming and Playstation means big for them that Sony forgo on presenting new television and infotainment in favor to have their CES 2023 main keynote to be heavy on Playstation.

After presenting Project Leonardo as a part of innovation for helping disabled gamers, Sony Computer Interaction via CEO Jim Ryan took the opportunity to talk more about the Playstation VR 2 or just PSVR2 launch next month.

AS we reported, Gran Turismo 7 will be getting a free update to let you play the game in a PSVR2 environment and also, PSVR2 will gain a version of Beat Saber, currently a popular VR game available on Oculus, but currently in development with no release date yet.

Despite not having a date, it is a BIG THING to say that Meta Platforms will allow its inner studio Beat Games to develop a VR game for the competition but maybe it is due that the game was originally available in the original PSVR.

As for the February 22nd 2023 release, gamers interested on PSVR 2 should expect at least 30 titles to be available to be purchased for the platform.

IT was reminded that physically, the PSVR2 will include an OLED screen, a 110-degree field of view, support for 4K HDR and frame rates of up to 120Hz, and four cameras built into the device. It also has new Sense controllers that can detect finger touches and, like the DualSense for PS5, they also have haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

Unfortunately, no backward compatibility with original PSVR which was viewed as an anti-consumer move to obligate consumers on reinvesting in a new hardware, which Sony justified to extend the possibility of Playstation VR games further beyond PSVR’s current capabilities.

Preorders are available now on Sony’s PlayStation Direct website for $549.99 and not virtual line or anything like that, preorders will be fulfilled as they arrived until launching stock is gone.
