As a Puerto Rican, I cannot believe this went under my radar, but as this week we got the Gamescom and yesterday the Opening Night Live, here at Puerto Rico (were yours truly actually live, game and write this for you), we had our equivalent with Puerto Rico Games Showcase, in its third edition.

Historically, in the Puerto Rican mainstream media, "Yo Soy un Gamer" with Hambo PR (Frankie López) and El Giga (Ivan Colón) along with a team of local content creators, are basically the voice of gaming here and Puerto Rico Games Showcase helps members of the Puerto Rico Games Developers Association (PRGDA) have their games more exposure.

This year, the main highlights were "Reef Escape," the first Puerto Rican game approved for release on the Nintendo Switch and the shoot-em-up Bad Chicken, new from Gladius Studios among others.

The PRGDA is made up of a group of Puerto Rican professionals who actively work in the local and international video game industry. Its objective is to support the industry in Puerto Rico with the creation of spaces and events that promote the creation of video games on the island, in addition to creating links and seeking opportunities for locals abroad.
