Remember that we have covered the first pro gaming blockchain for cryptocurrency and NFT called Oasys since last year, right? Well, thanks to Sega and Yu Suzuki, they are news again because Sega also knows that nostalgia sells and has to do with a beloved fighting franchise.

Yu Suzuki and Oasys have announced a new collaboration apparently under the brand Oasyx, which sees Yu Suzuki bringin NFT based on Virtua Fighter, Sega’s take on the Fighting Game Community genre since mid 90’s.

The collection will include 11 characters from the first three Virtua Fighter games into OASYX’s creative worlds and the purpose instead of a brand new Virtua Fighter game, is actually all in pro of Oasys’s metaverse so users can have their own avatars.

Despite Virtua Fighter being owned by Sega and Sega being an validator for the blockchain, this appears to be Yu Suziki’s direct involvement rather than a corporate collaboration and claims that he is personally overseen this development.

“During my time as a director at Sega, I initially developed Virtua Fighter using innovative 3D computer graphics technology, which was cutting-edge and industry-leading at the time.

Since then, the Virtua Fighter series has grown to be loved by many players and continues to be supported by numerous fans today.

Through my work supervising the development of OASYX’s unique worldview, I am delighted to combine innovative technology in the form of blockchain-based NFTs, with three titles from the Virtua Fighter series to create new entertainment for a wide range of gaming fans.”
