In a more than upbeat presentation than the "dire" scenarios that many outlets were rumoring, Microsoft Gaming finally came forward about the future of #Xbox and while acknowledging that all the mentioned things in the special Xbox Podcast episode were planned as early in December, it doesn't need to be taken a change of plans at all. Xbox Game Studios will be launching 4 unnamed games for Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch and it was hinted that 2 of them are more than a year since launched, are community-drive games and no, is not neither Starfield nor Indiana Jones and for now they are not committing on more games. First party Xbox games will be on Game Pass with no End of date, including new launches and actually, new games will be releasing on Day1 and Game Pass is an Xbox service exclusively. Activision Blizzard King Games will be coming to Game Pass starting with Diablo IV on March 28th. Phil Spencer interestingly acknowledged that there is an importance of exclusive games for platforms, that includes Xbox, but he foresee that the strategy will be small part for the industry in between the next 5 to 10 years. Regardless of that, Xbox President Sarah Bond assured that Xbox is not abandoning the hardware business and actually, next-gen Xbox is already in development and we are inbound for some news this Holidays season but, Microsoft Gaming did not acknowledged the future of physical games while addressing Xbox's view on gaming preservation. Unfortunately #Bungie will be running a layoff run and while the exact reach could be revealed later this week the effect is already seen on Destiny 2 and Marathon with respectively The Final Shape expansion and the remake were delayed further 2024 & 2025. The now Playstation subsidiary is the latest of noise in the industry that there are troubles at Playstation Studios were many of the 1st party developers are resisting the Game-as-a-Service strategy implemented by Jim Ryan since last year. Reportedly, thing has escalated to the point that non-attached Playstation Studios has threaten to go independent again while Playstation pressed back on folding studios who continues to object the plans. Some are speculating that this crisis is probably a one of the hidden reasons of Jim Ryan leaving Sony Interactive Entertainment next year besides an almost 30 years career within Sony and traveling between USA and Japan being a European resident. To avoid objections from regulators, Sony bought surprisingly Bungie (formerly an independents studios in the 80's and the 90's and by the New Millennium a first party studio for Xbox to Microsoft own the Halo franchise & going independent again a decade ago) as subsidiary.
