Unfortunately, the only way these days that companies try to save gaming history and its preservation is with money and Atari made a bold move coming from years that almost got extinct with time (and mismanagement), but now the company is giving back.

Atari announced this week that it has bought the rights to over 100 videogames properties that date from the 80’s and 90’s.

Some of the acquired franchises includes Bubsy, Hardball, Demolition Racer series, as well as the 1942: Pacific Air War, F-117A, and F-14 air combat series or games that were developed by Accolade, Micropose and Infogrames.

The legendary gaming company justified the move as a principal move for a multi-million dollar comeback as the brand they were once in the 70’s and 80’s which I think is the unfortunate part of the gaming history preservation, yet another company building a paywall for classic games.

Atari says it will re release already existing games on modern consoles and create new adaptations of past storylines.
