What better way to jumpstart the week than to announce being involved in a major project? And even better as for Amazon and its gaming venture Amazon Games, has landed another big publishing rights deal with Embracer Group.

As a follow-up of the Embracer Group deal which allow Amazon Games being the publisher of the next Tomb Raider main game developed by Eidos Montreal, Amazon has announced that a new Lord Of The Rings MMO game is in development by a developers working close with the Middle-Earth Enterprise, owner of every creation of JRR Tolkien.

“The upcoming game will be an open-world MMO adventure in a persistent world set in Middle-earth, featuring the beloved stories of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings literary trilogy. The game is in early stages of production, with Amazon Games Orange County—makers of the popular open-world MMO game New World—leading development. Amazon Games will publish the game globally for PC and consoles. Additional details, including launch timing, will be shared at a later date.”

It remains to see what effect this will have on the EA-publishing Lord Of The Rings game but, having no mention today, it seems that (if ever released) the EA game will be apart from the Amazon Games game.

This is Amazon Games third major publishing right after the successful launch of the american version of Lost Ark and landing the next-gen Tomb Raider publishing rights.
