Gameboy Color was an important transition for the classic Gameboy and Gameboy Pocket to what we saw at the New Millennium with Gameboy Advance, but of course, Gameboy Color made some important highlights including The Legend Of Zelda.
Mainly there were two games that was practically “an expansion” of each other with an intersecting lore called The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages & The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, co-developed with Capcom and released originally in 2001.
In The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Ages, The Triforce transports Link to a land called Labrynna. He finds Impa and guides her to Nayru, Oracle of Ages. But Impa was possessed by an evil villain named Veran.
Veran possesses Nayru and goes to the past, wreaking havoc everywhere. Link goes to the Maku Tree for help, but finds she has lost her memory, and Link has to obtain the eight Essences of Time to restore the Maku Tree's memory and stop Veran.
Meanwhile at The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Seasons,The Triforce has teleported Link to Holodrum, a troubled land, where he meets a traveling troupe of dancers, the leader, Din, actually being the Oracle of Seasons.
Suddenly, an armored behemoth named Onox appears and teleports Din away. The seasons in Holodrum change at a moment's notice now, and it is up to Link to find and upgrade the Rod of Seasons and rescue Din.
Both games are now available at the Gameboy Color collection under the Nintendo Switch Online Service (not + Expansion btw).
