Next gaming company taking its turn to tell us how the latest quarter went was Electronic Arts and the results for Q1 2024 as published this week and there are some good takeaways from the earning reports.
There are happy faces at Electronic Arts as the veteran american gaming publisher and developers announced net bookings for Q1 2024 were $1.578 billion, up 21% in comparison with last year.
The heroes for the quarter were the continuing popularity of FIFA 23, and the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
In FIFA’s case, FIFA Ultimate Team engaged tens of millions of fans and daily average users grew 15% meanwhile FIFA Mobile attracted over 65 million new players in the quarter alone. FIFA Online produced double-digit growth across monthly, weekly and daily average users.
In other words, FIFA 23’s Q1 net bookings were also a record for the history of the franchise.
Let me remind you that EA Sport FC 24 will carry the soccer interest of EA Sport as EA Sport FIFA 23 is the last game with the FIFA banner as Electronic Arts and FIFA could not reach an agreement to extend their legendary partnership.
The Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sales performance has been also the highlight of this quarter, tha Electronic Arts announced that the Playstation 4 and Xbox One version are in development (despite in the case of Xbox, that Microsoft has not committed on more Xbox One games) as EA expects the game to continue to deliver long-term value.
