In days where Microsoft and Sony are in a tug of war of originals games and buying studios in every corner for that purpose, some independent studios are an obvious target but the most recent addition to Playstation Studios is a surprising one, or is it?

Sony confirmed this week that it has bought Haven Studios from Calgary, Canada and is known for being funded by gaming industry veteran Jade Raymond.

Raymond is known for both tenure at Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, specifically being the architecture of what we now know as Assassin's Creed and how her input make it the one of the French studio’s principal IPs.

Haven Studios was founded sometime later after Jade Raymond was let go by Google, when the Internet giant decided unexpectedly wind down Stadia Games & Entertainment conglomerate for 1st and 2nd party games for Google Stadia, where she was the lead executive and brought some of the talent that were not retained by Google or decided to leave Google at all.

When HS was founded last year, they revealed to be developing their first AAA multiplayer and Sony originally invested in the studio to have the game as Playstation exclusive and today’s announcement can be taken as Sony is pleased on how the game could have advanced to secure a future Playstation Studios hit.
