Without much to expect before Gamescom taking place next August, you would not normally hear a major news, MUCH LESS a buyout AND EVEN LESS Activision Blizzard that is pending being bought by Microsoft.
Well, today is a new day and a new surprise and Blizzard Entertainment (apparently not on behalf of Activision Blizzard as parent company) has bought Proletariat, creators of the online multiplayer Spellbreak.
While the news was not exactly acknowledged by Blizzard, the studio did however, recognize that they will be tasked since day 1 to World Of Warcraft and the development of the Dragonflight, although, it is no secret that Blizzard and Proletariat have already been working on same interest prior the first buying the latter.
Unfortunately for Spellbreak, this means that the game will sunset by early 2023 as Blizzard is not interested in maintaining the game and prefers more priority on World Of Warcraft.
While details of the transaction including value and effective date were not published, Proletariat's CEO Seth Sivak did recognize on Reddit, that Spellbreak was not financially sustainable for much longer and talks on shutting down the game was in progress before the Blizzard offer.
