The advantages and disadvantages of being a variety streamer.

Because they don't have a specific focus to offer their viewers, variety streamers have a slower growth rate. They are less likely to burn out, and have the ability to reach a wide range of audiences. After establishing a following, most variety streamers narrow their attention to one or two types of material, Others, on the other hand, may add new forms of content to their repertoire on a regular basis.
If your primary purpose in streaming is to have fun and meet new people, you can do whatever you want. People may be drawn to your style and charisma, so you may continue to grow over time. Your early rise will be slower than that of a similar streamer who is only interested in one genre.
If being a variety streamer will make you more entertaining and happy, then that is the path you should choose. To make it rewarding for yourself, use strong strategies to expand your channel and brand. If being a variety streamer provides you joy, you can thrive as a variety streamer, albeit it will take longer on average.

If you want to broadcast a range of topics, I recommend starting with one core focus and then adding special days for variation. This means that streamers who broadcast many days a week can take one or two days off and do whatever they like, but they should still focus on their main material the most of the time. You'll get the best of both worlds if you set up your channel this way. You can experiment with new techniques over time to observe how they work out without alienating the majority of your audience.
Make it obvious which topics each live session will cover when you fill out your stream schedule on your profile or add it to your offline screen so that your viewers know what to expect. This will also aid with your content planning by reminding you of how to prepare for your steams.
On your schedule, try to maintain things in a regular rotation. Don't mix up your content on days when you stream the same days and hours every week. Give each day a distinct name that corresponds to the topic (for example, I made Sundays at 9pm "This Week In Gaming.") When you broadcast the content that your viewers appreciate the most, these slogans or titles will help them remember it subconsciously.

Although being a variety streamer might be challenging, there are some techniques you can learn to make it easier. I've compiled a list of a handful of them below:

Make friends with streamers from all of your genres, whether they're variety or not. They can help you stay informed about what's going on. You might be able to work together to develop better content for your audience.

Avoid undertaking large-scale community undertakings in any genre. This can involve things like setting up special servers for your followers or embarking on important quests. People will depend on you and compete for your time. While this is a great way to expand if you only want to stream one subject, it might be a pain for variety streamers.

Make a "intermission" video that includes scenes from all of your content. Keep it fun and exciting to draw attention to the other categories you're streaming.

    In Conclusion

If you want to be a variety streamer, keep in mind that if you want to grow, it will require more time. Overall, variety streamers are less likely to burn out because they don't feel like they're "on the grind." You can succeed in this market if you provide material that your viewers appreciate and maintain the same degree of interest for each game or topic you play.
Remember to seek out others who play or cover the genres you want to broadcast in. You aren't bound to one group or audience because you are a variety streamer. Remember to work with those who are most compatible with your brand. Just because someone wants to collaborate with you doesn't ensure they're the ideal fit for your brand.

    🔴 LIVE NOW 🔴

Day 2 of the Birthday Celebrations are a-go! And we're doing Tekken Smash or Pass Tier List, Resident Evil 3 Remake No Damage Run and then we'll decide whether I could take on said characters in a real life fight 😂

I'm wholly unprepared for my Dark Souls Tier Lists!

I'm a Resident Evil Speedrunner, No Damager Runner, Challenge Runner and Mod Showcaser, my regular games are RE2R, RE3R, RE8 and will be adding RE1R and RE7 to the roster for said speed/no damage runs! Including, my gauntlet run of the original trilogy for no damage/speedruns in one go!

    What I've achieved so far:

✨ All Categories under 1hr on RE3R including Inferno
✨ All Ghost Survivor modes completed with only No Way Out needed for No Damage (Kitty Ears acquired)
    ✨ All Categories under 50m on RE2R
✨ No Damage 4th Survivor (HUNK) and training for the speedrun
✨ No Damage RE8 up to the Factory (still training for whole game)
    ✨ Knife Only RE8
    ✨ Knife Only RE3R
    ✨ Handgun Only RE3R
✨ No Damage RE3R on Assisted, Standard and Hardcore

And now I'm back and derusting a lot of my old achievements and preparing for new ones!

I also do community nights in the coming Fridays with the Evil Dead Game (playing with mods/community members), DBD and Phasmophobia!

What makes you click on a stream? How often do you find yourself browsing through categories from lowest viewers to highest? What's your litmus test that someone has to pass for you to even bother? Do they need a cam or are you okay with just gameplay? Or maybe you can excuse poor visuals as long as the audio's great? Etc

I ask because for a majority of us, we're probably on the opposite side of the spectrum that we want to be in when it comes to views. I'm just wondering if we apply the same standards we hold for others in order for us to invest our time, on our own content

Heya all. Since I saw a post earlier today on someone wanting to switch streaming sites, I thought I'd share some of my research with you when I left Twitch (for the most part, I do still multistream there.) The research is as recent as possible, but as always, make sure to do your own homework first. Lastly, I'm not going to talk about FBG or YT because you already know about those.

Glimesh – glimesh.tv (note: this is my main streaming site)
Good: Runs on the FTL protocol, which is far faster than Twitch; it's nearly real time. Positive community. Runs mostly on open-source values. No affiliate status needed for subscriptions.
Bad: Alpha state - and it shows. Community is positive as mentioned earlier, but small and shrinking due to alpha state. Running on FTL means it's going to destroy lesser-spec computers and internet connections (meaning less than 4500 mbps). Some personal drama at the site has turned people off.

    Trovo – trovo.live
Good: Has a very active community. Set up much like Twitch, so easy to figure out. Has free stuff streamers can give to their communities.
Bad: Set up somewhat like a content factory, where if you miss or are late for two streams, they turn off your streaming schedule (you can reactivate it). Owned by Tencent, which turns some people off.

    Caffeine – caffeine.tv
Good: Has a very active community. If you like tournaments and heavy interactivity, this place is for you. Aside from gaming, heavy focus on music.
Bad: Has been accused of being highly mediagenic (i.e., if you’re not one of the pretty people, you aren’t going to get far.) If you are not a gamer or musician, this site really isn’t for you.

    Brime – brimelive.com
Good: Automatic multistreaming. If you multistream, Brime has it built in.
Bad: Confusing setup and if you intend to stream on only one site, Brime doesn’t seem to be set up for that (even though technically it is.)

    DLive – dlive.tv
Good: Similar to Trovo, set up like Twitch, so easy to navigate. Covers the same functions as Twitch and could be considered a straight clone.
Bad: Controversial site. For reasons fair or not (I make no judgement opinions on this), DLive has been accused of everything from being an alt-right hate site to a cryptocurrency scam. If you want to stay clear of lightning rods, this may be one to avoid.

    Picarto – picarto.tv
Good: Heavy art-based site recently moving into gaming and music. Is nearly as old as Twitch, so has a decent longevity record.
Bad: HEAVY ART-BASED SITE means that gaming and music gets short-shrift (gaming doesn’t even show up on the categories until you literally scroll to the bottom and currently ALL games are a single cat). Bizarrely, viewers AND streamers must be subscribers of the site in order to pay for video and ad-free streams. Not entirely family friendly; as an art site, it has heavy NSFW and like typical art sites, the filters default to off. (thanks to Taymichu for reminding me of the last one!)

    Nonolive – nonolive.com
Good: European-based site; like DLive and Trovo, pretty much a Twitch clone. Great if you stream in multiple languages.
Bad: Site is originally set up to be “the Spanish Twitch” and it shows; very little is in English or is set up for non-Eurocentric standards. If you only stream in English, this may be one to avoid.
