While looking how I can improve my tactics on how the Twitch algorithm makes me at least “visible” in content playing in surreal hours, I manage to see a boosting feature that ironically, became news by the end of the week.

Labeled as an experimental feature for this kind of purposes, Twitch confirmed that it was pulling the plug to the Boost Train because it was being misused for its true purpose and NSFW content were included.

Despite the problem, there were issues that many streamers didn’t really make any progress and it is well known that less than expected accounts really benefited from Boost Train.

Twitch assured both The Verge and Kotaku that the feature is not canceled but things need changes if it ever comes back.

Five New Categories that seems to be more real than April’s Fool

While Boost Train “makes his probable temporary final stop”, Twitch announced via a Twitter thread the inclusion of new categories or metas which are: “Silent Reading”, “Pizza Time”, “Character Creation”, “Chores, Odd Jobs, Errands”, and “Literally Just Chatting”.

First three are kinda self-explanatory but the most popular of them was actually “Silent Reading” while “Chores, Odd Jobs, Errands” are new IRL ways to stream without video games or other well known activities like music, board games, etc.

Finally the “Literally Just Chatting” (a winner in my opinion) is an opportunity for streamers that are not in the condition on going on camera and/or mic and just engage in chatting while probably gamers that wants just to play but without the hassle of camera and microphone or may be uncomfortable to go on camera (like in my case, a good trial would be as I am writing this, I am recovering from a surprising hospital stint early weekend).

Many took these new metas as April’s Fool categories, but as I am writing this, the categories are still listed as a streaming category option.
