• Just like when a failed redacted document was leaked on the Internet, it seems that the Court of North California District needs to have double-check on their office clerks.

Because there was a massive leaks of findings and evidence regarding #Xbox that were filed during the failed FTC Preliminary Injunction against Microsoft on attempting to buy Activision Blizzaard.
The leaked documents highlights all plans that Microsoft have for this decade including a buying spree with names like Nintendo (it will be the 2nd time since late 90's attempt), WB Games, Valve and more.

AS for Xbox Hardware, despite Phil Spencer confirming that there will be no mid-gen upgrade, we could see an All-Digital Xbox Series X (no Blu-Ray ROM) by 2025 & new custom Xbox controller in 2024.
Microsoft tentatively aims for 2028 to say/launch what's next for Xbox hardware.

It will be interesting on the reach that Xbox wants to stretch as there are visions of maybe a proper Nintendo Switch answer for the next main hardware as an "hybrid" computing and also, a Cloud-Ready Xbox console was mentioned.

Now that Stadia is out of the picture, Microsoft is already developing Game Pass Cloud Servers upgrades to prepare Xbox as a proper PC gaming streaming and no longer exclusive Xbox Series X environment.

Talking about Stadia, Microsoft was wary on chances to compete, but after the first rumors of Immersive Stream, the corporate version of Stadia, was a new priority rather Stadia itself, CEO Satya Nadella asked Xbox team about any opportunities & how they see why Google failed.

At the Preliminary Injunction hearing, it was revealed that Microsoft chose NOT to upper up their Cloud Gaming offering & let Stadia take the lead, precisely because Microsoft knew that it will be used against it in case of a massive purchase, like the Activision Blizzard deal.

Finally in gaming software related, The Elder Scrolls VI was originally slated for a 2022 release, but Starfield took priority.
Before the purchase of ZeniMax Studios and Bethesda, works on the next DOOM game, Dishonored 3 & a Ghostwire Tokyo sequel were in the pipeline.

Finally, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 remaster are also in development, meanwhile, it was mentioned that Rockstar Games is working on the next-gen upgrade of Read Dead Redemption 2.
There is an expectation that more things will go public in a matter of days.

  • I know that I used to blog about tech entirely, but I don't feel in the mood to feel rushed, so if anything GAMING RELATED in Computex Taipei is worth covering, I will do it.

Current big news (not dissing it's importance in general computing) so far is not worth my effort as I am busy at work today.

  • My unrequired opinion:

I am very worried of this line:

"Microsoft already accounts for an estimated 60-70% of global cloud gaming services and has other important strengths in cloud gaming from owning Xbox, the leading PC operating system (Windows) and a global cloud computing infrastructure (Azure and Xbox Cloud Gaming)."

And no, Microsoft ain't no saint when it comes to trying things in a monopolistic ways, BUT, this is clearly a stigma and not factually applicable on what is the concern here, gaming industry, not just a whole business.

If it comes to go to court, Microsoft has better chances there than trying to rationalize with regulators already with a past experience that refused to be on the past.

UK regulators will oppose to the Activision Blizzard acquisition
Contrary to all forecasts that a “thumbs up” would have been given, United Kingdom’s market regulator known as the CMA has voted on disapproval of Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard in a big surprising turn of events. The TLDR of their rationale is that they are concerned about Microsoft's reach on Cloud Gaming adding more game catalog to an already well-built Game Pass...

  • So... The Ryzen 7 58003DX benchmark went official... Kudos for AMD for more alternatives, but WILL DEFINTELY GO FOR Ryzen 9 5900X, I mean yes, I am building a Gaming PC with future-proof in mind, but this gaming PC will be also my workstation that includes content creation, want to do mi first batch of heavy programming and more miscellaneous that probably might use power computing as my budget can maximize and unfortunately, besides gaming, the CPU behave lower even than OG Ryzen 7 5800X.

So I rather save $150 and sacrifice a 15% more gaming capacity while maintaining more computing power and FORGET to talk about building another PC in at least 10 years.

  • In what is presumed to be paving the way for better support for the cloud gaming version of Steam, Google released version 101 of ChromeOS for the developer channel (not public use).

In it there is a preliminary version of support for Variable Refresh Rate or adaptive image synchronization and although it seems to be functionality for external monitors connected to Chromebooks, it is believed that the equivalent of AMD's FReeSync / Nvidia's G-Sync can work on the native monitor of ChromeOS computers.

It is known that high-performance Chromebooks are still with integrated chips, but a future is foreseen where AMD and Nvidia take computing more seriously according to Google for games.

For developers who are going to test, the capability is not visible in options, but through chrome://flags

  • A pleasant surprise from AMD today is the fact that cheap variants of Ryzen Zen 3 processors were announced and surprisingly Zen 2 refuses to go off the map and this will give relief to those looking to increase computing power without breaking the bank.

    The new announcements include the Ryzen 3 4100, 5 4500, and 5 4600G for Zen 2 and the Ryzen 5 5500, 5 5600 7, and Ryzen 7 57003DX for Zen 3.

The one I want to highlight is the Ryzen 57003DX that although it HAS THE SAME SPECIFICATIONS as its predecessor announced in autumn 2020, AMD's V-Cache for 3D was added and makes the processor virtually up to 15% more efficient than the Ryzen 9 5900X (assuming enhance Full HD 1080p resolution).

The new Zen 2 and Zen 3 are expected to be available from April 4, but for those interested in the Ryzen 7 57003DX, it will be released on April 20.

  • After a while of having people interested in the unknown, Intel revealed the first generation of its discrete GPUs for Arc laptops, with which it will seek to create momentum between Nvidia and AMD.

There are no details yet for the Desktop and Workstation versions and when they will be released.

The interesting thing is that Intel indicated that it is in the process of moving forward with its Project Endgame, which is perceived to be the first concept of GPU-as-a-Service, where users will be able to have GPUs remotely from cloud computing.

This if we have to wait for more details.
