It is CES week and in CES 2023, AMD decided to take the turn to announce what the company had in store for the Laptop side of computing and the chip maker did comply and we got a preview of what could expect with the so-called Dragon Range family which were announced.
While AMD did announce improvements and more members for the Zen 3 Plus, Zen 3, and Zen 2 chips, definitely the Laptop things for Zen 4 Dragon Range will come in the form of Ryzen 9 7945HX.
The Ryzen 9 7945HX has 16 cores and 32 threads, frequencies of 2.2-5.4 Ghz, 80MB cache, and 55-75 watt TDP, which 16 cores says much for a leap in Laptop world and it will be interesting to see independent benchmarking.
Other Dragon Range families include an entry Ryzen 9 7845HX, Ryzen 7 7745HX and Ryzen 5 7645HX which, accordingly, will make laptop prices a differentiator.
Zen 4 and non Dragon Range processors were presented but this probably aim for power users and productivity purposes with Ryzen 9 7940HS and Ryzen 7 7840HS, both have eight cores and 16 threads, boost up to 5.2 GHz, and 34-45 watt TDP.
