• After more than a year that they could not come to a new agreement and let games being removed from Chinese market (except Diablo Immortal), Blizzard Entertainment will return to China via Xbox consoles.

Back in November 2022, when Activision Blizzard were still independent, could not reach a new business agreement beyond the availability of Diablo Immortal (a whole different agreement) and let January 2023 as the official month of most of Blizzard Entertainment games to be retired.

This week's announcement is basically a Microsoft Gaming led gaming success in China gaming market, that includes to explore bringing new NetEase games to Xbox consoles and other platforms.

NetEase hasn't been in the bench despite losing a powerful partner like Blizzard (which rumors saying that in part, is was due disturbed communication with unpleasant misunderstandings for then CEO Bobby Kotick), as buying and investing in Westerns gaming studios.

For immediate effect, Chinese gamers will expect the recovery of access of previous available titles like World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and other titles in the Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo and StarCraft franchises.

Of course, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer considers this agreement a new Xbox victory for bringing more games to more players around the world.

  • CD Projekt Red recently told investor that the next #TheWitcher game has entered pre-production and have over 400 devs (or studio's 60% of dev workforce) working on in & expect full dev phase by second half of 2024.

This is part of the so-called Project Polaris, which aims a to have a new The Witcher game trilogy in a 6 years period starting with the release of the first one.

Also and talking to local press, CD Projekt Red acknowledged that single player games are not compatible with micro-transaction or for their POV, they don't see a place for microtransaction but, cannot be ruled out on multiplayers games.

Of course, this came on the initial reception of Capcom's Dragon Dogma 2 which many of the negatives about the game was the focus on microtransaction first than the whole game lore/single player playthrough, which Capcom has already apologized.

  • Originally slated as a Plan B & now the WHOLE PLAN, Microsoft announced an agreement with #Ubisoft to buy the Cloud Gaming rights of Activision Blizzard to mitigate concerns of its ABK acquisition by the regulator CMA.

Under the restructured transaction, Microsoft will not be in a position either to release Activision Blizzard games exclusively on Xbox Cloud Gaming or to exclusively control the licensing terms of Activision Blizzard games for rival services.

On Ubisoft's end, the company will compensate Microsoft for the cloud streaming rights to Activision Blizzard’s games through a one-off payment and through a market-based wholesale pricing mechanism, including an option that supports pricing based on usage.

Also, Ubisoft can add Activision Blizzard games on Ubisoft+ on the UK market.

Interestingly, the CMA responded that the Ubisoft deal would also mean that games needs to be reached through Linux-based computers & not exclusively on Windows computers (probably macOS too).

Finally & to add a little pressure, the CMA confirmed that this development and remade deal needs new scrutiny, which has a deadline date of Oct 18th, 2023.

Hypothetically CMA taking this long, puts the ABK's Termination Fee raise if the deal fell agains Microsoft in effect.

  • I may get why "PRO Playstation or FTW" fans are mad that Starfield end up being an Xbox & PC exclusive....

But raising concerns and calling the game crap EXCLUSIVELY because of a minimalistic main menu is A WHOLE NEW LEVEL of pettiness.

    I said it!

  • Due to being without the home internet the WHOLE WEEKEND, I need to switch Halo 2 with Exoprimal for this week (Xbox Week to PC Week).

And yet, HowLongToBeat still doesn't have reported time for #Exoprimal.
