It has been quite a few interesting hours for Playstation 5 in general and after a month of beta, finally there is a firmware update that allows a new feature and meanwhile, physically, Playstation 5 got silently upgraded again.

First the update and in July, Sony announced that they needed to test some new things, including native support for 1440p along with new features.

The 1440P native resolution support includes anti-aliasing through supersampling down any resolution higher than 1440p output and upscaling if the game doesn't for any reason, support upper than 1080P.

As expected the new capacity does not include the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) as with the 1080P and 4K resolution.

Also, the Gamelists functionality is stable and this allows Users to sort their games into these Gamelists, essentially the folders used on the PS4, with up to 15 lists in total and 100 games in each one and now, you can now compare 3D audio and stereo audio on the same screen and more easily access in-progress Activities from game hubs.

Finally, there is a new voice control over the PS5 YouTube client where you can search for content on YouTube through Voice Command, a functionality that is still in Preview and not intended to be considered a stable function.

Playstation 5 now more efficient in temperature and energy usage

It was long rumored that Sony quietly redesigned for the second time the interior of the Playstation 5 to improve the temperature control and energy consumption.

Confirming all this details, YouTuber Austin Evans in fact deconstructed the latest models of PS5 and found that indeed, Sony managed to reduce the Motherboard size by 2 inches with changes with the cooling design that add an additional heat pipe at the back of a console and a smaller heatsink, and the SSD enclosure has also been changed slightly.

The changes allowed the Playstation 5 to weigh a pound less than the first revision, totaling 2 and a half pounds and with the internal changes, the PS5 uses an average of 20 to 30 watts less than its predecessor.
