The first product of the joint venture between Logitech and Tencent Games is finally official and Logitech’s take on Cloud Gaming hardware goes byLogitech G CLOUD, already available to pre-order officially, while the price might be a setback.

After weeks of speculation Logitech G CLOUD went official after making a teasing announcement and this being a product in partnership with Chinese conglomerate Recent Games.

The  G CLOUD device was announced including a 1920 x 1080 FHD (16:9 ratio) 60Hz refresh IPS LCD touchscreen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G octa-core up to 2.3GHz, Dual-band Wi-Fi radio (2.4GHz and 5GHz2 x 2 MIMO IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.1 and a 23.1 Wh Battery that it was claimed, last 12+ hours after full charge.

Also, Logitech claims that the design of haptics, gyroscope, and remappable controls are unique in the industry but no proper real-life scenario was shared and neither was real-life gameplay.

As expected, the software will have built in software clients for Xbox Game Pass Cloud, GeForce Now and Steam (via Steamlink service) with more accessing Android version of service via the Google Play Store (and here enters Stadia).

Actually, Microsoft acknowledged on its Xbox official blog, that they are actually partners of the Logitech G CLOUD and rightfully touts it as another way to play Xbox games on the go or free from big hardware.

To be completely honest, the price of the device is a big concern, we are talking about a most-suggested retail price of $349.99 after the pre-order period (which is an introductory price of $299.99).

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G is actually the processor you would find in mid range phones from Redmi, Samsung, etc. and is not a “bad” SoC as Android and Cloud Gaming environment shouldn't have demanding hardware, I fail to see that is enough to justify going over the MSRP for a Nintendo Switch, that while using the Switch as example might be a different level, is using an aged Tegra X-1 AND proprietary software.

The usage of Android should be enough to the price not going further from $250 and MAYBE and that's a BIG MAYBE I would justify the $350 price if the device was a 4G/5G mobile capable device.

My take is that unless Logitech have an unannounced patent, the controllers, buttons and the mentioned details on the haptics, gyroscope, and remappable controls aspect has to be REALLY SOMETHING.

I fear that this will serve as gasoline to the negativity fire on Cloud Gaming in my opinion, as practically, it justifies investing on a Razer Kishi V2 IMO.
