In an update of the development of the new The Witcher games, including the new trilogy main series following up The Witcher III: Wild Hunt (probably with a new storyline), CD Projekt Red have found the director.

Video Game Chronicle came across the LinkedIn page of Sebastian Kalemba and as part of his profile with CD Projekt Red, it was updated with a post saying:

“Career news: I’m directing the new Witcher Saga.

Since joining CD Projekt Red I believe nothing is impossible and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for.”

As per the same LinkedIn, Kalemba joined CD Projekt Red during the development of Cyberpunk 2077 in October 2014 and began serving as lead animator for both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, before being promoted to head of animation for the whole company.

Indeed a great promotion with one of the most important projects for the future of the Polish gaming veteran.

The new The Witcher main games will be a trilogy and it is being wired under the code name Polaris or Project Polaris with CD Projekt confirming that it will not used their in-house RED Engine, but instead, will develop the games with Unreal Engine 5 and after the release of the 1st game, they set a goal to release the 2 remaining games in a six year interval.

Apparently the new trilogy will be an original story and remains to see if The Witcher’s author, Andrzej Sapkowski, has any input in the game and if it does, if this will serve to make a new The Witcher book, which he claimed that the main story is concluded but he is open to make more.
