CD Projekt Red is laser focused on new projects and their newest one has to do with their esport effort with The Witcher and GWENT card game is scheduled to have a successor, but unfortunately, pretty much its replacement also.
The news came as part of the Roadmap for the game in 2023, where CD Projekt Red did revealed that Gwent will be supported with new cards and eSports tournaments throughout 2023 but this will end as of 2024 as the game switches to a community-focused approach, in what is internally known as Project Gwentfinity.
While there are no exact details on what would be the final product of Project Gwentfinity, CD Projekt Red said that it will follow a seasonal progression system added to the game that rewards creative deck building alongside a new balancing feature that allows the community to vote for changes to balance.
Of course, restrictions will be in place to prevent manipulation and "game-breaking" changes.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer is being slayed
Other bad news came as the form of the end of life of The Witcher: Monster Slayer as CD Projekt Red also confirmed that the mobile game for Android and iOS will be delisted from respectively the Google Play Store and the App Store by January 31, 2023 and servers will go offline by June 30, 2023.
Unfortunately, the developmental team behind the game will also face cuts that will include people being let go.
With just a year and a half of life, The Witcher: Monster Slayer was a game that let players take on the role of a witcher. The game world is an image of the real world, which is supported by Google Maps. The player has to move around in the real world in order to move around in the witcher game world.
