Gearbox Software, maker of many games including Borderlands, had made news this week and it is all about the future and more access by buying a whole 3D content creator and motion sensor studio.

Gearbox parent company, Gearbox Entertainment, announced that it had come to an agreement to buy Captured Dimensions.

Captured Dimensions specializes in 3D capturing and scanning tech, and has worked on games and movies before and after the closure of the transaction, Captured Dimensions’ founder Jordan Williams, will continue as president reporting to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.

2K Games, Activision and GameStop have been Captured Dimensions customers and of course, Gearbox Software had worked with them before.

For the company, the purchase made ses because it enables further expansion of offerings to strategic partners across multiple business units, as per Business Officer Sean Haran in a statement and this is officially the first gaming acquistion for 2023.
