While it is true that the Xbox Series X supports 1440p screen resolution without a problem, Microsoft always had the Xbox Series S to cover that turf where people are fine playing on a 2K screen.
But the almost 2 year history of Xbox Series S has been constant and it is the difficulty of developing games in parallel with Series X and alway ending in a game built for S being below in performance speaking with X.
To finally answer this, Microsoft revealed that it is unlocking hundreds of additional megabytes of memory and that this will give studios more control over how to use the console’s limited memory.
In other words, this should mean that Xbox Series S games should improve graphics performance in memory-constrained conditions.
A principal action to achieve this is allowing the usage of 2 additional GB on Series S's RAM, topping to 10GB of memory for developers, but the challenge now is the real world itself as this ideal scenario depends MUCH on the development of the game itself and what is that it is wanted to include.
