I am extremely late for a final note on CES 2023 regarding gaming interest, but I could not let past that Playstation made CES new thanks to Sony and its conceptual EV car that remains “conceptual” and no future release has been given yet, but pretty much is the vision of Sony.
While it is not the first time that Sony announced that it has been working on a proper EV car to answer the hype of consumer electric cars including Tesla, Ford, Huynda and others, Sony had an update on its conceptual EV car that has been in co-development with Honda.
It is probably the WHOLE car part is being worked on by Honda and Sony is actually dealing with the infotainment part of things.
The Afeela, as the concept is named, was upgraded to contain the latest on infotainment and full support for Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 for its dash screen and pretty much telling Tesla they are no longer the only one.
Another big update for the revised version is the new “Media Bar”, in which Sony pretends to have it to display a variety of data including the current weather and battery level of the car, as well access to customize every look of the data and applications.
Evidently and as a way to maybe get low cost possible if this ever comes to the market, the Afeela could be a marketing hub in which users will be presented ads while on the road and yes, not a nice feature.
But it remains to see and probably we will see an updated version next year as Sony and Honda don't expect to sell the final product of Afeela at least no earlier than 2026.
