Is ok for Amazon to try to have a piece of the gaming industry and while Amazon Game Studio as a publisher has great success stories, unfortunately as a developer, things haven't been rolling after the initial campaign of New World.
An evidence of this, is the exit of Mike Frazzini 9 months ago despite being an Amazon veteran and maybe underestimating the challenges that the gaming industry was his big mistake.
But apparently there are more mistakes taken as the San Diego branch of Amazon Game Studio is losing its leader also this week as John Smedley sent an email to employees notifying them about exiting the company.
Bloomberg did obtain a copy of the email via insiders sources.
Not just being an Amazon company, but John Smedley was the former CEO of Sony Online Entertainment (then Daybreak Game LLC before being bought by Sony) and pretty much everything that has to do with the game Everquest and subsequently began founding independent studios before landing his not latest job on Amazon Gaming.
Amazon Games principal publishing producer Andrew Sites, who also worked with Smedley at Sony, will step in as San Diego studio head.
