Stating once again that I am against posting rumors on this blog, for the nth time I am bending the rule (and foreseeable will do it again) as this new report on Activision Blizzard sale is an interesting one.

Bloomberg had sources explaining that the main reason to sue Microsoft to object to the purchase of ACtivision Blizzard as a gaming conglomerate, besides just avoiding big tech getting bigger, was that they wanted to have the narrative.

Basically, the Federal Trade Commission was in fear of not doing anything and allowing the European Union Commerce regulators to enter in negotiations with Microsoft to get approval, a situation that the FTC finds inadequate.

Apparently, the news of the lawsuit back in December came a mere hours before a formal meeting between EU regulators and Microsoft and some observers claim to be surprised how quickly FTC went with its disapproval.

As I always remind you, the FTC under the Biden Administration has vowed to use a policy on avoiding big companies on getting bigger unjustifiably and for Microsoft owning a big gaming company falls in that category and that was the same rationale of suing Microsoft.

Recently it was revealed that the lawsuit entered without Microsoft and FTC discussing concerns and probabilities of concessions, so basically, this will take time all right.
