Bloomberg once again had mee reporting a finding of its source in the gaming industry, this time from the offices of Electronic Arts and while the American game maker and publisher has yet to share its financial earnings for this season, a big cut has just occurred beside Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile.
Sources of Bloomberg revealed that Electronic Arts has been looking for an opportunity to rekindle the Titanfall franchise with studio Respawn Entertainment.
Unfortunately and attached to the official cancellation of Apex Legends Mobile, the Titanfall project was scrapped too without being publicly acknowledged and is ironic because fans of the game have been waiting for news.
Reportedly, pre-production began by July 2021 under the leadership of former creative director Mohammad Alavi and pretty much, his leaving Electronic Arts was basically the beginning of the end.
The game was set in a “unique universe” and was internally being called Titanfall Legends and while some could confuse the name with Apex Legends, the game was actually a single player experience which pretty much did not advance in development.
But today, the story got followed by Giant Bomb, who’s sources claim that there was a plan to relate Apex Legends and Titanfall as the single player experience was destined to introduce Apex Legends to Titanfall universe and this was made on a recent Twitch stream in which VGC managed to see.
The idea was to have Apex Legends and Titanfall respond to the relationship of Call Of Duty Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare, with Apex Legends responding to Warzone and Titanfall Legends as the answer to the campaign within the game.
Evidently whether EA acknowledges this publicly or not, it is bad news for fans of the franchise that think that a third proper game is well overdue.
