Yesterday was a big one for those who took time at 11AM, US Eastern Time to land what it was obvious for some good observer that Epic Games would give away Death Stranding, but something strange happened.

Epic Games opened the gate yesterday to give away not only Death Stranding, but the Director’s Cut in a welcomed move.

And as expected, Epic Games Store server was not enough for everybody jumping in claiming the game but something happened after some “stability” came to the PC games store front and it was that the Director’s Cut was switched to the Death Stranding base game.

I have been monitoring Epic Games Twitter official account but appears to never acknowledge that the Death Stranding Director’s Cut was the game that was supposed to be given away, but yet, people that managed to claim the whole package were given anyway but it was not possible to avoid paying extra for the Director’s Cut after the base game of Death Stranding became “the official” free game.

Nevertheless, the Director’s Cut version as of the writing of this and for a limited time, is at 40% discount at suggested price.

Death Stranding is a 2019 action game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, officially, the first game from director Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions after their split from Konami in 2015.

A Director’s Cut version was released in 2021 and as a next-gen upgrade for Playstation 5 version and later ported to a PC version.

The Director’s Cut includes new tools and equipment for players to experience new features like a firing range, racetrack, extra missions, and an expanded story.
