First Halo Infinite expansion being rolled back, then Apex Mobile and Battlefield Mobile along with inside news of unannounced titles like Titanfall and The Coalition entering full Gears next main game after CANCELLING two unnanounced projects, Back 4 Blood ending development and now, we got MORE gaming cancellation notes to close a gaming cancellation outbreak which kickstarter in February.

Knockout City got knocked out too!

Knockout City to end service on June 6, 'Private Hosted Server' edition to be released for PC - Gematsu

Velan Studios has announced plans to close its live service action game Knockout City on June 6, 2023 even after the latest season will start on February 28.

The reason for the cancellation has to do with their inability to take on multiple projects at the same time, pretty much the same reason of Back 4 Blood’s developer also hanging the boots.

All real-money transactions will be removed from the game on this date and the season will last for 12 weeks until the game’s servers shut down on June 6.

The game on PC will receive the last patch that enables people to build their own server but pretty much, no official support after close.

Metaverse will carry on without Crayta

Crayta, the latest sandbox game that debuted as a Google Stadia exclusive and then ported to PC will also close its door.

Unit 2 Games confirmed that despite already being released on PC, the closure of Stadia actually did a dent of active users and that the current usage of the game is not enough to justify the effort on maintaining the game.

So, with being bought by Meta Platforms, Facebook’s parent company, to actually have Crayta be the gaming part of the Metaverse currently in development back in 2021, Unit 2 Games will close Crayta servers by  on March 3 with the assurance that the studio is working on a new big thing and being a Meta owned-company, I won’t be surprised that it would be a Oculus exclusive.

The crossfire also included CrossFireX

CrossfireX Will Be Shut Down In Full On May 18th - Insider Gaming

Also CrossFireX was added to the list of the gaming cancellation outbreak as Korean developer Smilegate confirmed that the game’s server will close on May 18th.

Strangely, reason why the decision was taken was not revealed but if I am going to speculate, it was indeed bad to continue as the campaign of the game will also become unplayable with the game already retired from the Xbox Marketplace and purchase done between January 20th through February 3 can be refundable via a claim request.

February started with the wrong foot for the gaming industry indeed.
