Perhaps it is for the best that 2K Games builds the hype after a rocky end of 2022 and start of 2023 with recent events like being hacked and reporting a irregular 1st quarter of the year and of course, a beloved franchise will continue and we are talking about Civilization.

In a surprising press release late last week, Firaxis confirmed that Sid Meier’s Civilization VII has begun development cycle.

While the staff was limited in presentation, it was confirmed that Ed Beach, franchise lead designer for Civilization VI, will continue in his role as creative director on the new game.

No further details on how advanced is development or if it is a starting point.

Steve Martin leaves Firaxis while XCOM Director also leaves 2K Games

Meanwhile and related to the gaming studio, Firaxis also confirmed reports that they will be replacing current leader Steve Martin after 25 years and also JAke Solomon, remembered by bringing games like XCOM and Midnight Sun or Marvel which apparently WAS NOT the reason for leaving 2K Games.

But it is evident that Marvel Midnight Sun's performance was an unexpected disappointment and the timing is too much for being a mere coincidence.

He will be replaced by former chief operating officer, Heather Hazen.
